Mission:  Together with the community of Morrison and its families, we are dedicated to leading and inspiring each individual student to develop the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values necessary to become an effective member of our global society.

QUALITY OF EDUCATION

 

MCUD #6 will provide our students and staff educational opportunities to ensure that all students acquire the skills necessary to become productive and contributing members of our global society.

 

·     100% of the students will meet or exceed the Illinois State Learning Standards by June, 2009.

·     Annually increase the percentage of students who exceed the ISAT/PSAE standards.

·     Increase the daily attendance rate to 96.5% by June 2008.

·     Increase the high school graduation rate to 95% by

·     June 2008.

·     Annually improve learning environment and satisfaction as measured by the parent, student and staff survey.

·     Annually improve the effectiveness of the recruitment, induction and mentoring program as measured by the staff survey.

·     Adopt Local Wellness policies by August 2006.

·     Complete and implement a crisis intervention procedure manual by September 2006.

 

 

·         Review, modify and implement standardized curriculum programs, course offerings and instruction to meet the needs of all students.  Address:

-Social/Emotional State Learning Standards

-Character Education

-Junior High/High School course offerings

-Alternative learning programs

-Collaborative programs with other districts institutions and community businesses

·     Develop a system of frequent, common, local grade-level assessments to provide ongoing feedback and corrective action on student skill attainment.

·     Implement the District Improvement Plan for improving test performance of students with disabilities.

·     Provide resources to improve teacher preparation and understanding of the state assessment (ISAT/PSAE) framework and content.

·     Recruit, induct, mentor and retain highly qualified teachers.

·     Create and implement a plan to assist students in preparing for state tests and to provide individual assessment feedback.

·     Design and develop a system for enhancing parental involvement in their child’s learning.

·     Continue to update and implement the District’s Technology Plan.

·     Develop and implement a district-wide plan that will promote an environment that is safe, healthy and drug-free.

 

FISCAL MANAGEMENT

 

MCUD #6 will sustain a strong, consistent, on-going plan of fiscal management.

 

·     Maintain a balanced budget.

·     Continue to increase fund balances in the three major funds (Education; Operations, Buildings and Maintenance; and Transportation).

·     Maintain Financial Recognition status on the State of Illinois Financial Profile.

·     Achieve at least $300,000 in grant income each year. 

·     Establish a Public School Fund by June 2006.

 

 

·     Continue the Board of Education’s and Finance Committee’s regular analysis of the district’s financial status.

·     Review the district’s staffing pattern focusing on educational programs and class size concerns quarterly.

·     Explore options for cooperating and/or consolidating with other districts.

·     Implement energy/cost saving provisions through the state-mandated Health/Life Safety plan.

·     Aggressively search and apply for grant opportunities.

·     Establish a non-profit Public School Fund to promote donations for educational use. 

 

 

COMMUNICATION / COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

 

MCUD #6 will increase community support through involvement and communication.

 

·     Complete a home/school communication plan of action by May 2006.

·     Complete the communication audit by June 2007.

·     Implement volunteer program improvements by June 2007.

·     Establish school/business partnerships baseline measures by September 2006.

 

 

·     Study and recommend a district-wide system for enhancing home/school communication of grades, textbooks-on-line and homework assignments.

·     Conduct a community-wide communication audit and make recommendations to the Board of Education.

·     Improve the volunteer program including: a needs assessment; promotion of volunteerism in schools;a volunteer training program; a system for monitoring and recognizing volunteer hours and measuring volunteer satisfaction.

·     Continue to strengthen school/business partnerships to build communication and positive relations.
