A Prestigious District

Morrison Community Unit School District #6 in Whiteside County is located in northwestern Illinois. It is the County Seat of Whiteside County.

The school district covers approximately 110 square miles. There are four schools within the district: two elementary schools housing PreK-5 students, one junior high school with grades 6-8, and one high school with grades 9-12. Total student population is approximately 1300.

In 2010 the High School was named by U.S. News and World Report to be one of the nation’s best high schools.


A Scenic Location

The population of Morrison is approximately 4,500. Attributes of the community include: Agriculture as a primary source of revenue and income, diverse business and industrial employers that provide over 2000 full and part-time jobs, close proximity to the Regional Office of Education located in Sterling, IL, technical and community colleges located either in Morrison (Morrison Institute of Technology) or nearby (Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL and Clinton Community College in Clinton, IA).

Some of the employers located in Morrison are: Superwash, Vend-O-Mack Sales, R.C. Smith Transportation, The City Rebar Detailing, Inc., the Court House, Medical/Dental clinics, Morrison Community Hospital, financial institutions, and a weekly paper.
