Southside Parents/Guardians, Morning Drop-off procedure reminder: We ask you to please pull into the parking lot and pull along the sidewalk that runs parallel with the playground at the Southside/Jr. High parking lot to drop off your student(s) at Southside. Please DO NOT drop them off on the road outside the parking lot, or amongst the parked cars in the first lane of the parking lot. There have been a few close calls already this year with students running in front of cars and almost getting hit. If you need to drop off at the road, please do so past the parking lot where students won’t enter the lot and go between cars. Our student’s safety is the most important part of this procedure. What is Red Ribbon Week and why are we participating? National Family Partnership, or NFP, was established as a grassroots, nonprofit organization in 1980 by a handful of concerned and determined parents who were convinced they should begin to play a leadership role in drug prevention. Their mission is to lead and support our nation’s families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug free youth. NFP sponsors the National Red Ribbon Campaign that we take part in. Red ribbons are a symbol of our commitment to raise awareness of the destruction caused by drugs in America. Attention Junior and Senior Parents! The high school is hosting a FAFSA night next Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:00. A representative from ISAC (Illinois Student Assistance Commission) will be presenting in the auditorium and then available to answer questions afterwards. The presentation will cover the basics of how to find, complete and send the FAFSA to any colleges your student wishes to attend. We would love to see everyone there.
