MCUD #6 COVID-19 REINTRODUCTION GUIDE

Introduction:MCUD will utilize a phased in approach to reintroducing students to school. Movement from phase to phase will be determined by CDC, IDPH, and ISBE guidelines. Depending on state restrictions MCUD #6 may not move through phases sequentially and may return to previous phases if circumstances warrant.

PHASE DESCRIPTION
I: DISTANCE LEARNING Suspension of in-person learning, as a result all learning will be done remotely through online platforms. Paper copies of materials may be distributed at the request of the parent. Phase I will be based on regulations invoked by the state of Illinois and/or the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) or based on the recommendation of the CDC, Illinois Department of Health, and/or the Whiteside County Health Department.
II: IN PERSON LEARNING FOR SMALL GROUPS In the event that state and/or health department restrictions allow, in person learning will be available for small groups. Groups will be determined based on need as determined by the teacher and building administrator. Criteria for groupings may include, but is not limited to: special education students and students who may not have equitable access to education through distance learning. Distance learning will remain in place for all other students during Phase II.
III: BLENDED LEARNING FOR ALL Due to social distancing guidelines established by the state for workplaces and schools it is possible that only a portion of the student population will be allowed to return to school at a given time. Knowing that social distancing requirements will remain in place and that some families may not be comfortable with their students returning to school, MCUD #6 will offer a blended model of instruction. The blended model will combine aspects of in-person and distance learning.
IV: IN PERSON LEARNING (with exceptions) Majority of MCUD #6 students will return to in-person learning. The district will provide flexibility and options for families who may not feel comfortable with their child(ren) returning to in person learning.
V: IN PERSON LEARNING FOR ALL Once all state restrictions have been lifted all MCUD #6 students will return to in-person learning. Students will be expected to adhere to school and district policies concerning attendance, homework completion, etc...
During this process the District will base decision on four main priorities:
PRIORITY #1 STUDENT/STAFF SAFETY
PRIORITY #2 ACADEMICS
PRIORITY #3 SUPPORT FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS
PRIORITY #4 FINANCIAL AND OPERATIONAL STABILITY
