There were many squeals and giggles today as first grade students in the accelerated math program experimented with the strength of egg shells during their STEAM activity. Three eggs were arranged in a triangle formation and books were slowly added one at a time until one cracked. Can you guess how many pounds of books the eggs cracked at? ( see photos for the answer). Students also tried to crack an egg by squeezing it in their hand. One did break and we think it must have had a weak spot because the other egg did not break even when squeezed as hard as possible with two hands!

Stacking books on eggs.
Students decided they needed to add tape to stabilize the base which kept shifting.
he squeezing that egg as hard as he can!
He couldn’t break it either.
The egg caved in at 20.5 pounds!
This is one tough egg!
