The Tri-County Conference (of which MJHS is a member) has made the decision to postpone 7th/8th grade girls volleyball, 7th/8th grade boys basketball and wrestling until at least, after the Winter Break. The conference will continue to monitor the Covid-19 situation and if it is deemed safe to return to play, we will implement abbreviated seasons.

The IHSA has made the following announcement. MHS will be meeting with the conference to come up with new schedules where they apply: Return to Activities 1.0 On July 29th, 2020, the IHSA Board modified the Return to Activities to reflect the following: Certain fall sports will not be allowed to happen in the fall; as a result the IHSA calendar will be adjusted with the following tentative timelines. • Teams will play shortened regular season schedules in Winter, Spring, and Summer • State Series events for all sports will be determined on a sport by sport basis. • Activities that can happen virtually can remain in their traditional seasons. • Activities that can’t happen virtually could potentially need to adjust their seasons. • On July 29th, 2020, the IHSA Board modified the current Phase 4 Return to Play Guidelines to allow for fall contact days to begin on Monday of Week 10 (September 7, 2020) and continue until the end of Week 17 (October 31, 2020). There is a 20-day limit on contact days during that time period for any sport not in season. Fall (August 10 – October 24, 2020 in “traditional” season) Boys & Girls Golf - in groups of 50 or less where multiple groups are distanced a minimum of 30 ft apart. Competitions should be within an Illinois COVID Region or within a conference. Girls Tennis - in groups of 50 or less where multiple groups are distanced a minimum of 30 ft apart. Competitions should be within an Illinois COVID Region or within a conference. Boys & Girls Cross Country – in groups of 50 or less where multiple groups are distanced a minimum of 30 ft apart. Competitions should be within an Illinois COVID Region or within a conference. Girls Swimming & Diving - less than 50 in attendance with multiple groups distancing 30 ft. apart. MHS summer school registration closes Thurs. 7/2. Classes will run Mon-Fri beginning on 7/6 through 7/30 from 8am-12pm. All ISBE & IDPH requirements will be strictly enforced, including the use of appropriate PPE including face coverings, temp. checks & social distancing.

Morrison High School to offer Summer Driver Education Morrison High School will offer a Summer Driver Education class from Monday, July 6 – Wednesday, July 29, 2020. During the four-week course, students will complete the 30-hour classroom portion via remote learning (through Zoom and Google Classroom) as well as complete six hours of on-road driving time and six hours of observation time. The online classroom sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Mondays – Thursdays, and the behind-the-wheel driving sessions will be scheduled both before and after the online classroom sessions. The course is open to all students who will be 15 by Friday, July 10, regardless of whether they are enrolled at Morrison High School. All students must have passed a total of at least eight classes in the previous two semesters combined in order to be eligible to enroll in Driver Education. The fee for the course is $295, payable to Morrison Community Unit School Dist. #6.
