Southside Elementary Kindness Club has organized a food drive to provide for families in need for the holidays. The food bank is also asking for personal hygiene products such as toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, disposable razors, and deodorant.

Morrison High School students Dailey Damhoff and Sarah Stralow attended State Sen. Win Stoller’s Youth Advisory Council meeting at Sauk Valley Community College on Wednesday, Nov. 1. During the session, they heard from Sen. Stoller and four other speakers on state and local government. They also participated in a discussion session with peers from schools across the 37th Legislative (Senate) District about ideas for legislation to debate in a simulated committee hearing that will be held later this school year in Springfield.

Today and tomorrow during conferences MJHS will once again have its unclaimed, lost and found items out for the public. There are 4 tables of both girls and boys clothes as well as coats and sweatshirts. Donations accepted, but not required. We do ask that it be used for students and not resold. Items are available from noon until 7PM today and then again tomorrow from 8AM until noon.

Need somewhere for your kids to go while you're at parent teacher conferences? If so, you can bring them to MJHS today. We have staff and students who are donating their time to watch your younger ones so you can attend conferences. They will be located in the gym at MJHS. There will be movies and games for them to play.

Thursday Night are Parent Teacher Conferences and make sure you stop by the food trucks at the high school from 4-7pm! We will have Sweet Butts Cotton Candy, Kelley Girls Woodfire Pizza -they will have their Dill Pickle Ranch pizza on special for $12 along with their other other pizza options, Main Squeeze Lemonade, B & T Smokin BBQ. Unfortunately the pretzel truck has had to cancel due to mechanical issues. We hope to see you there!

Morrison High School’s Scholastic Bowl team competed in a taping of Bergstrom’s Stateline Quiz Bowl on Sunday, October 29 at the Nordlof Center in downtown Rockford. The episode will be broadcast on WTVO-TV in Rockford the weekend of January 20-21, 2024, and the match will be posted on YouTube, as well.
