Today was a special day at Northside. The Morrison Schools Foundation was on hand to recognize Grandpa T as the first recipient of the "Grandpa T Volunteer Award." Grandpa T has volunteered at Northside for over 22 years. Each year, a volunteer will be chosen and $250 will be donated to the organization of the recipient's choice. This year, $250 will be donated to the Northside library in honor of Grandpa T. Congratulations Grandpa T and thank you so much for the impact you have made on students through your many years of volunteering at Northside!

Congratulations to Erika King for finishing 17th out of 32 at the State Track Meet this afternoon in the 800. While Erika did not qualify for Saturday's Finals she did run a personal best 2:26.3 and has set an FAT timed 800 record for MHS. Sara Hardin ran a 2:26.3 time back in 1979 when the state meet was hand timed and has held the record since.

Congratulations to both the high school softball and baseball teams on their semi-final wins tonight. Baseball beat AFC 13-9 and softball beat Henry 8-2. Both teams will play in the Regional Championships on Saturday at 10:00 am at Newman. Good Luck Fillies and Mustangs!!!!

There will be a send off tomorrow at 3:00PM in the MJHS foyer for Kinley White, Elle Milnes, Gabe Dykhuizen , and Jaxon Yaklich as they head down to the IESA State Track Meet this weekend. Please come and cheer them on!!

MHS parents: Currently, Sauk Valley Community College is willing to offer for fall semester: ENG 101 - Comp I, PSY 103 - Intro to Psych. For spring semester the classes offered would be: ENG 103 - Comp II, MAT 240 - Elementary Statistics. Families would be responsible for the cost of the dual credit classes. SVCC offers these classes for approximately $139/credit hour which works out to about $840 per class. This is 75% of the cost of full-time, on campus enrollment. For comparison’s sake a credit hour at Illinois State University for the 2020-2021 school year is $404 or about $1200 per class based on current research. All of the classes being offered are considered “general education” and would be applicable to the vast majority of degree paths. Class space will be awarded on a first come, first served basis as long as the student meets the entrance requirements to a dual credit program with SVCC. If you are interested, please have your student stop in the high school guidance office to pick up the appropriate permission forms, or check the guidance website at: https://sites.google.com/morrisonschools.org/svccdualcreditopportunities/home
