MHS Students: Mr. Lawson, the new high school guidance counselor, has sent an email this morning with a link to an appointment calendar. Please make an appointment on that calendar for any schedule changes you wish to make.

The Morrison Kiwanis Club and Key Club will hold their fifth Sandwich Sale of the year on Saturday, August 3 at Rt. 30 & Rt. 78/Cherry Street. Bring your Mustang-sized appetite for ribeyes, pork chops, brats, hot dogs, beverages, and snacks! Thank you to all those who have turned out so far this year at the Sandwich Sales to help the Kiwanis Club raise funds for non-profit groups that sponsor programs for Morrison's young people!

Northside and Southside Elementary Schools will be holding our Backpack Night on Monday, August 12. Northside: 4:30 - 5:30 PM Southside: 5:30 - 6:30 PM You and your student can stop in during this time and drop off supplies and meet your teacher.

HS Parking: All fees must be paid before you can purchase a parking pass.

6th Grade Volleyball Practice Officially Begins August 5th at the Junior High from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. Make sure you have updated physicals and get those school and athletic fees paid ASAP. Have shorts, tennis shoes, and knee pads ready to go. We will have a parent meeting that same day after practice as well to go over expectations, schedules, and uniforms. The school office will be open starting July 29th for you to start bringing paperwork in and to pay your fee.

The Morrison HS Key Club is working with Impact Life to sponsor a blood drive on Thursday, July 18 at Emmanuel Church, 202 E. Morris Street in Morrison. The Morrison School District is looking for a volunteer volleyball coach (previously a stipend position) for the 2024 5th grade volleyball season. This position could be a shared position if needed. Coaches must have a coaching certificate (available online), concussion protocol training (also available online), and must pass an FBI background check. The City of Morrison’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Morrison High School Key Club are partnering to host a Family Bingo Night (for guests age six and older) at Odell Public Library on Thursday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. The event, which will be held in the library’s Community Room, will feature large, easy-to-read bingo cards to make the game accessible and fun for children and adults. Prizes of nominal value will be awarded to the winners during each round. The Morrison High School Key Club would like to thank the Morrison Kiwanis Club for the $200 donation that it presented to Key Club during the Kiwanis Club’s meeting on Tuesday, July 2. The Key Club and the Kiwanis Club partner on a number of events each year, including approximately eight Sandwich Sale events each year as well as the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Morrison High School Key Club would like to thank all of the community members who visited the Key Club/Kiwanis Club Sandwich Sale at Rt. 30 & Rt. 78/Cherry Street on Saturday, June 29. We would also like to thank Kunes Auto Group for its large order of sandwiches. We’re pleased to report that we did not run out of any pork chops, ribeyes, brats, or hot dogs on Saturday during the lunch rush! The next Sandwich Sale will be held on Saturday, July 13 at the intersection of Rt. 30 & Rt. 78/Cherry Street.

Local State Farm agent Angie VanderVinne visited Morrison High School’s Summer Driver Ed class on Tuesday, June 25 to educate students about auto insurance. Mrs. VanderVinne explained insurance terminology; led an icebreaker quiz about insurance; reviewed a handout of insurance terms and concepts; shared stories about claims experiences; and discussed steps to take after a collision. Mrs. VanderVinne also reminded students about the availability of a good-student discount for students with a "B" average or better. Many thanks to Mrs. VanderVinne for sharing her expertise!

New at MHS - Color Guard! Through flag spinning and dance, the color guard tells a visual story while the marching band plays it musically. The color guard will perform with the marching band at home football games, parades, pep rallies, and marching band competitions. Open to all interested students; past band experience not required. For fall semester, replace PE class with Band class. Attendance at MHS band camp is required - 2024 dates are Monday-Friday, July 22-Aug 2, 8am-3pm.
